Natural selection
Natural selection is a process where organisms produce more offspring than can survive and the organisms with the best adaptations live to pass on traits to their offspring. There are 4 processes of natural selection. They are over production, genetic variation, mutation, and differential survival.
Natural selection relates to evolution because natural selection is the mechanism for evolution and natural selection proves the theory of evolution.
The great white shark uses natural selection and lays many offspring and the shark offspring with the best adaptations survive and get to reproduce and pass on the traits that help them.
Sharks lay eggs in egg case or egg capsules. The common shark lays many eggs, it lays about anywhere from 10 to 200 eggs.

Overproduction
Overproduction is the process where the organism produces more offspring than can survive. The organism will lays many eggs, then when they hatch and have to start living on their own , and since there are many of that organism there may not be enough food and shelter for all of them. This is related to evolution because then, the more chance an species has of living long enough to survive into a new species.
The hammer head shark is an example of over production. It produces many offspring ( As shown below) so its species can someday evolve. Most sharks do not usually travel in grouup because they'll fight over food and shelter.
But the hammer head shark is one of the sharks that travel in group, probably not as much as the picture shown below. The shark lays more eggs than can survive because some of the offspring may grow to devolop it's own set of traits that nobody has and pass the on to their offspring. So the more eggs there are, the higher the chance of that happening.

Genetic variation
Genetic variation is how each singular organism of a species has a unique group of traits.
This is related to evolution because if a singular organism of a species has a unique group of traits, and survives, it will pass on those traits that no one else has and possibly survive to evolve. An example of this is the bullhead shark.
The bull head shark is almost the only shark that can live in fresh water and salt water so when there is no salt water which will probably, never happen, it will be able to live there. The river sharks or the sharks that live in only fresh water are slowly coming face to face with extinction because their aren't many fresh water sources left.
Because the Bullhead shark has the ability to live in both types of water, when the river sharks die, their population will increase orr stay the same because it can just switch to living in saltwater. another type of shark has the ability to see 360 degrees but its long head can also be a disadvantage. Can you guess what it is? That's right! It's the hammerhead shark, the only shark able to see 360 degrees.

Mutation
Mutation are the source of new traits. They are made by mistakes in the process if DNA replication and causes increased variation.
Mutation is related to evolution because, since mutation is the source of new traits, if those new traits are good, and help the organism survive, the organism might get to pass on that trait to their offspring and help their species survive for many generations. As the many generations pass by the organism will slowly change and before you know it it won't look like what it used to look like!
An example of a mutation is the 2 headed shark. Now this could be good or bad depending on how you think about it. this could be good because they could both help spot out predators and prey. but the bad thing is probably that they wont be able to decide which direction they want to swim. Another example is the albino shark.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST or DIFFERENTIAL SURVIVAL
Survival of the fittest or Differential survival is when organisms of the same or different species must fight each other for food and shelter and the ones with the best adaptations will get them and survive.
This relates back to evolution because the organism with the best adaptations will pass on those traits to the offspring helping it survive until it may evolve.
An example of Differential Survival is the Tiger shark. The Tiger shark lays many eggs( Over production ), then when they hatch and have to start living on their own , and since there are many tiger sharks there may not be enough food and shelter for all of them. So the Tiger shark with the best adaptations will get the food first and the shelter first, and the Tiger shark with no good adaptations may not get food at all. So what im saying is the best organisms will get food and shelter 1st and the ones that don't have the best adaptations will probably not get it at all.
